Conference Highlights

• Wellness Walk kicks off the conference on Thursday afternoon. Join ACCG, Cooperative Extension’s Walk Georgia, the Coca-Cola Company and Local Government Risk Management Services (LGRMS) to get your conference off to a healthy start with walk around Forsyth Park. Festivities run from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. and all participants are eligible for great prizes including and Apple watch, an iPad and University of Georgia football tickets! Catch one of the conference shuttles from your hotel to the park.

• ACCG Lifelong Learning Academy classes are scheduled for Friday and Monday. Finish up your core certification or take a specialty track class to dive deeper into one of the eight areas of focus for continuing education.

• The conference opening general session and keynote speaker moves to Friday at lunch. Conference attendees will be treated to a dynamic keynote speaker Dr. Kevin Elko as he addresses “Shaping a Winning Culture” through his experience in working with collegiate and professional sports teams as well as industry leaders. You won’t want to miss some of the stories he has to tell!

• County Buyers Mart set for Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Please note that the schedule for the County Buyers Mart has shifted to Friday, April 29 from 3:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 30 from 8:30 – 11:15 a.m. Plan your schedule so that you are sure to have time to visit our exhibitors and stop by the County Agents’ Farm House.

• The ACCG Youth Caucus returns to the ACCG Annual Conference this year. Approximately 75 high school youth who are members of county youth commissions from around the state will meet on Saturday and Sunday. Please welcome our young friends with their interest in civics and desire to serve in the public sector.

• Continuing education concurrent sessions on Saturday afternoon feature critical topics for counties: public safety and community health. Stick around after the ACCG business session and conference keynote luncheon on Saturday to hear from the Georgia Emergency Management Agency / Homeland Security Director Jim Butterworth and Congressman Buddy Carter on counter-terrorism and cyber security or learn more about community health concerns including more on the economics of hospital funding and providing basic health care. Make sure someone from your county attends each of these sessions

• Lifelong Learning Academy certification presentation will be during the conference celebration on Saturday evening. Join ACCG and CVIOG as we celebrate the achievements of county officials through the Lifelong Learning Academy. The Rivertown Band will be back in the house to help lead this festive evening sponsored by Yancey Bros. Co.
